Fireballs made easy

Directly from the Laboratory on Phisics, here it is the image of the "fireball" that we created in a argon plasma: I took the photo, while Alberto Alfier was checking, using the computer, the maximum-luminosity moment, alerting me on the right moment to shoot the camera. In the photo, you can see a vacuum chamber, in which there is an Argon plasma (invisible). Thanks to a particular usage of a sensor (the little bar which has the shiny ball), the plasma density is modified locally, because of an accumulation of electrons near the sensor, thus making the dense plasma around the bar become visible as a little shiny ball (the so-called "fireball")
